APPEAL FOR DONATION

The School requests the following;
1. Provision of Desks and Lockers
2. Setting up of science laboratory
3. Provisions of text books and exercise books
4. Provision of a water tank
5. Donations of a school bus/van
6. Provision of food stuffs

STATEMENT OF PROBLEMS

The school does not have a laboratory which is heart of all science experiments. This means that we do not perform any science experiments. All students are either orphans or come from poor families; the parents can not afford to buy text books for these students. We are forced to share teachers copy with the 48 students. The small chairs that we are using are borrowed. We urgently need desks and lockers. We also do not have a playing field where we can adequately cater for games and sports. Some students walk as far as six kilometers daily to come to school, so we urgently need a school bus that will be used to transport the students to and from school everyday. The community has provided us with water free of charge but we do not have a tank that we can store it. We only have a 20 litre jelican which is not enough especially now that water is available only on Tuesdays. Most of the time we go without lunch since most of the parents can not afford to pay 20/= for lunch for the students. We need food for the lunch programme.

CREDIBILITY

Brooklynn High School has been supporting many orphans and needy children through education for the last two years. There has been no sponsor or donor to support this noble work

The school currently supports over 48 students who are orphans or from needy and single-parent families. We operate from a single rented room where there is neither security nor electricity. All the furniture is borrowed. We do not have money to buy food for these children so they do not eat anything over lunch hour which makes them not to concentrate in the afternoon. Some walk as long distances as 20 kilometers to and from school everyday since we do not have a school bus. All workers are volunteers with no allowances.

OUR COMMITMENT

Brooklynn High School is therefore committed to;
a) Providing high quality, Secondary education to these very needy but bright children in our society today.
b) Create an atmosphere conducive for learning by providing Food, Shelter and Clothing
c) Develop and nurture all children Socially, Spiritually, Psychologically and academically so as to become good citizens and leaders of today’s’ world.

WHY YOU SHOULD SUPPORT BROOKLYNN SCHOOL

Due to high number of orphans as a result of the HIV/AIDS scourge, many clever children are not able to continue with their education after the death of their parents. Most of these children are being left in the hands of their aging grandparents who can not take proper care. Others are being left in the hands of relatives some of whom abuse them sexually and physically.
Besides, Lack of higher education has led many such orphans to the streets; others are involved in drug abuse which has completely destroyed their lives. Some children get married immediately after dropping out of school despite their young age. Those who don’t get married become victims of early pregnancies, abortions, robbery and child prostitution. More than 75% of children who are orphans or from poor families do not join any Secondary School or College. This has seen poverty levels double in the last couple of years in Kenya . Brooklynn High School is here to offer an opportunity to learn to the needy in society
